Frequently Asked Questions

Aadhaar address update rejected — why? Common reasons: Document is older than 3 months (utilities), address on document doesn't exactly match what you entered, document is blurry/incomplete, PIN code mismatch. Resubmit with a clearer, recent document.

I don't have electricity bill — what address proof for Aadhaar update? Any of these work: Bank statement (last 3 months, with address), Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence, Rent agreement, Property registration document. Bank statement/passbook is easy if you have a bank account.

Can I update mobile number on Aadhaar via phone call? No — mobile number update cannot be done remotely (no online option, no phone call). In-person biometric at Aadhaar Kendra is mandatory. This is a security measure.

How many times can I update Aadhaar address? No limit on address updates. As many times as you move. Each update costs ₹50 online or ₹100 at kendra.

Aadhaar not linked to new mobile — how do I get OTP for online services? Services requiring Aadhaar OTP will fail if your mobile isn't linked. Fix: Visit Aadhaar Kendra → Update mobile number (₹100, biometric). Until then: Use Aadhaar face authentication (some apps) or virtual ID as alternative.
