Frequently Asked Questions

Is DDU-GKY the same as PMKVY?

No — DDU-GKY is specifically for rural poor youth under Ministry of Rural Development. PMKVY is a broader scheme under Ministry of Skill Development open to all urban and rural youth. DDU-GKY has a mandatory placement component while PMKVY has only placement assistance.

My family is rural but income is above ₹1 lakh. Am I eligible?

Priority is for those below ₹1 lakh income. However, if training centers have remaining capacity, youth from rural areas with income up to ₹1.5 lakh may be considered. Check with the local BDO.

Will I get a certificate after DDU-GKY training?

Yes — a Sector Skill Council (SSC) certificate recognised by the industry and the government. For some trades, you also get a certification from the relevant authority (e.g., ITI for trade courses).

What is the salary after DDU-GKY placement?

Typical starting salary: ₹7,000–₹12,000/month for entry-level roles. Roles like healthcare assistant, retail, and security tend to have faster placements.

Can girls apply for DDU-GKY?

Yes — DDU-GKY has a minimum 33% female participation mandate. Girls from rural areas are actively encouraged, and residential batches are designed with separate hostels for women.
