e-Shram Card — Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a construction worker with daily wages — do I need e-Shram card? Yes — construction workers are one of the primary target groups. Register immediately to get ₹2 lakh free insurance and access to future welfare payments. Your UAN will be used for all government cash transfers.

My Aadhaar mobile number is different from my current number — how to register? You need Aadhaar OTP (on Aadhaar-linked mobile) for e-Shram registration. First update your mobile number in Aadhaar at nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Then register for e-Shram.

e-Shram registered but I'm not getting any money — why? e-Shram is a database/registration platform, not a cash transfer scheme by itself. Schemes like PM-Kisan, PMAY, SVANidhi are separate — e-Shram registration helps you link to them. Ask at your local Block Development Office which schemes you're eligible for based on your e-Shram profile.

Can gig workers (Swiggy/Zomato delivery) register for e-Shram? Yes — gig/platform workers are explicitly included. Register under "Transport" or "Service" category. Access PMSBY insurance and future gig worker welfare fund benefits.

e-Shram card expired — does it need renewal? e-Shram UAN is a permanent number. No expiry. However, update your details if you change occupation, bank account, or address. Login at eshram.gov.in to update.
