What is the Haryana Ladli Scheme?

The Haryana Ladli scheme is a state government initiative to promote the welfare of the girl child and combat the declining sex ratio. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance of ₹5,000 per year for 5 years to families where a second girl child is born. The total benefit accumulates to ₹25,000 plus interest, which the family can withdraw when the girls turn 18.

The scheme specifically targets the second daughter to discourage families from viewing additional girl children as a financial burden.
