What is Jagananna Amma Vodi?

Jagananna Amma Vodi (meaning "Jagan's gift for mothers") is an Andhra Pradesh government scheme that gives ₹15,000 per year to mothers (and eligible guardians) who send their children to government schools. The money is given as financial support to incentivize continued school attendance and prevent dropouts.

The scheme is implemented through the school system — enrollment happens through the child's government school.

Key Benefits

Feature Details
Annual assistance ₹15,000 per year per enrolled child
Who receives Mother (or eligible guardian) of the child
Payment DBT to mother's Aadhaar-linked bank account
Payment timing January each year (beginning of school year)
Classes covered Class 1 to 12 (government and government-aided schools)
Income limit BPL families and white/pink ration card holders

Who is Eligible?

The mother/guardian is eligible if:

  • Her child is enrolled in a government or government-aided school
  • The family holds a white or pink ration card (below poverty line card)
  • The child is studying in Classes 1 to 12
  • The mother is a Andhra Pradesh resident

Even if the father is not present (widow/single mother), the eligible guardian can receive the benefit. In absence of mother, the primary guardian gets the payment.

How to Get Enrolled

Step 1 — Child Must Be in Government School

Ensure your child is enrolled in a government or government-aided school in Andhra Pradesh.

Step 2 — School Collects Data

The school collects mother's details:

  • Mother's Aadhaar number
  • Bank account (Aadhaar-linked)
  • Ration card type (white/pink)

The school submits this data to the AP Education Department.

Step 3 — Verification

  • Revenue and Education departments cross-verify eligibility (ration card, school enrollment)
  • Beneficiary list is published at the school notice board

Step 4 — Annual Payment (January)

On a designated date in January, ₹15,000 is credited directly to the mother's Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Step 5 — Subsequent Years

The same process repeats each year — school confirms the child is still enrolled and in good attendance.
