What is Karma Tirtha?
Karma Tirtha is a flagship programme of the Government of West Bengal, launched by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles (MSME&T). The scheme creates permanent marketing and employment hubs across the state where artisans, weavers, micro and small entrepreneurs, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, and women artisans can sell their products directly to consumers, buyers, and exporters throughout the year.
Each Karma Tirtha centre is designed as a focal point for economic activity โ combining trade, commerce, exhibitions, and cultural events. The aim is to provide organized marketing facilities while generating direct and indirect employment opportunities across West Bengal's districts.
As of 2025, multiple Karma Tirtha hubs have been established across districts including Uttar Dinajpur (Illuabari), Malda (Bamangola), and several others, with more centres under development.
