Frequently Asked Questions

1. My marriage is next week. Is there time to apply?

Applications must ideally be submitted at least 30 days before marriage for the pre-wedding installment. If your marriage is very soon, apply immediately and also apply post-wedding for the second installment.

2. I belong to 2B OBC community. How much do I get?

OBC communities (all sub-categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) are eligible for ₹50,000. The amount is the same for all OBC sub-categories.

3. Can both the bride and groom be from OBC and apply separately?

The scheme is for the bride's family — the grant is for the bride (paid to her account). The groom's community doesn't matter for this application.

4. The scheme says income limit ₹1.5 lakh but our income is ₹2 lakh. Can we still apply?

Income limits are updated periodically. Confirm the current limit at sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in. If you marginally exceed the limit, the application may still be processed at the officer's discretion — try applying.

5. We applied online but the status shows "pending for long." What to do?

Visit the nearest Nadakacheri or Deputy Director, Social Welfare office with your application number. Pending applications are often delayed due to high volume — follow up personally.
