NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) is the single national-level entrance examination for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses in medical institutions across India. Conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), it is mandatory for all doctors seeking postgraduate medical education.

What is NEET PG?
NEET PG replaced the earlier AIPGMEE and is now the sole entrance exam for:
- MD (Doctor of Medicine) โ Clinical and non-clinical specialties
- MS (Master of Surgery) โ Surgical specialties
- PG Diploma โ Various medical diploma courses
- DNB (Diplomate of National Board) โ Through NBE counselling
The exam determines eligibility and ranking for admission to approximately 60,000+ PG medical seats in government and private institutions.
Who is Eligible?
Educational Qualification
- MBBS degree from a recognized institution (Indian or foreign with NMC screening test clearance)
- Must have completed the compulsory rotatory internship (or completing it before the counselling cut-off date)
- Must possess a permanent or provisional registration with State Medical Council (SMC) or Medical Council of India (NMC)
NMC Registration
- Valid registration with NMC or any State Medical Council is mandatory at the time of counselling
Age Limit
- No upper age limit for NEET PG

- No restriction on number of attempts

Step-by-Step Application Process
Online Application

- Upload Documents โ Upload photograph, signature, and certificates as per specifications
- Select Exam Cities โ Choose preferred test cities (usually 3-4 options)
- Pay Application Fee โ Pay online via credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI
- Submit Application โ Review all details and submit
- Download Confirmation โ Save/print the application confirmation page
- Admit Card โ Download from the portal 10-15 days before the exam
- Appear for Exam โ Carry admit card and valid photo ID to the exam centre
