What is PM Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)?
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit programme that provides financial assistance to pregnant women and lactating mothers. The scheme aims to compensate for wage loss during pregnancy and promote safe delivery and nutrition.
Under PMMVY 2.0 (revised version):
- ₹5,000 for the first child (in three instalments)
- ₹6,000 for the second child (if a girl) — in one instalment
- Cash transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account via DBT
The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development through Anganwadi centres and health facilities.
Eligibility Criteria
For First Child (₹5,000)
- All pregnant women and lactating mothers for the first living child
- Must register the pregnancy at an Anganwadi centre or approved health facility

For Second Child (₹6,000)
- Only if the second child is a girl
- One instalment of ₹6,000 after the birth of the girl child
Who is NOT Eligible
- Women employed in central/state government or PSUs
- Women already receiving similar maternity benefits under any other law

How to Apply
Method 1: Through Anganwadi Centre
- Visit your nearest Anganwadi centre during pregnancy
- Register your pregnancy and get an MCP card
- Fill the PMMVY application form (available at the centre)
- Submit documents — Aadhaar, bank passbook, MCP card
- The Anganwadi worker enters your details in the PMMVY portal
- Track your application through the portal or Anganwadi worker

- Register at a government health facility (PHC/CHC/District Hospital)
- During ante-natal check-up, fill the PMMVY form
