What is PM Vishwakarma Yojana?

PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a Central Government scheme launched on 17th September 2023 to support traditional artisans and craftsmen (Vishwakarmas) across India. The scheme provides financial assistance, skill training, modern tools, and market linkage to workers engaged in 18 traditional trades.

The scheme is fully funded by the Government of India with a budget outlay of ₹13,000 crore for the period FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28.

Key Highlight: Artisans get collateral-free loans up to ₹3 lakh at a concessional interest rate of just 5%, along with free skill training and a toolkit incentive of ₹15,000.

Who is Eligible?

To apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana, you must meet these criteria:

  • Age: 18 years or above
  • Occupation: Working with hands and tools in one of the 18 notified trades (listed below)
  • Not a government employee or their family member
  • Not availed loans under PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, or Mudra in the last 5 years

How to Apply Online — Step-by-Step

Step 1: Visit the Official Portal

Go to pmvishwakarma.gov.in

Step 2: Mobile/Aadhaar Verification

  • Click on "How to Register" or "Apply"
  • Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  • Verify with OTP

Step 3: Visit Common Service Centre (CSC)

  • After initial registration, visit your nearest CSC (Common Service Centre)
  • CSC operator will complete biometric verification using Aadhaar
  • The Gram Panchayat / Urban Local Body will verify your trade

Step 4: Complete Registration Form

  • Fill in personal details (name, DOB, address)
  • Select your trade from the 18 eligible trades
  • Upload photograph and documents
  • Provide bank account details

Step 5: Verification & Approval

  • Gram Panchayat/ULB verifies and recommends your application
  • District Implementation Committee (DIC) approves the application
  • You receive PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card

  • Enrol for skill training at designated training centres
  • After training, receive toolkit incentive of ₹15,000
  • Apply for credit support (₹1 lakh in Phase 1, ₹2 lakh in Phase 2)

No. This scheme is for all artisans and craftsmen working in the 18 notified trades, regardless of caste or religion. It is trade-based, not caste-based.
