Frequently Asked Questions

ITI holder vs 10th pass — any advantage for Group D? Both eligible. ITI holders may get preference in trade-specific posts (Helper in mechanical/electrical workshop etc.). In direct competition for common posts: No advantage — same exam, same cut-off.

Can I apply for Group D AND NTPC together? NTPC requires 12th pass (graduates preferred for some posts). Group D requires 10th/ITI. You can apply for both simultaneously when notifications are active. NTPC is a higher-level exam and job.

Railway Group D — can I choose posting location? You're recruited for a specific RRC zone (North Railway, Southern Railway etc.) and posted within that zone. You can indicate city preference but actual posting depends on vacancy. Transfer is possible after a few years of service.

Railway Group D PET — I am 40 kg, 5'2" female — can I carry 20 kg? PET requires carrying 20 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes for females. This is physically demanding. Start training months before the exam. Gym training or regular practice with weights is essential. Failing PET disqualifies you even with a perfect CBT score.

Group D vs SSC CHSL — which is easier? Group D CBT is 10th-standard level (easier conceptually). SSC CHSL is 12th-standard level (harder). But Group D is also very competitive (crore+ applicants for lakh seats). Easiness of content doesn't translate to easy selection. Both require dedicated preparation.
