The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is conducted by the UP Basic Education Board for candidates who wish to become teachers in government primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh. UPTET qualification is mandatory for teaching positions in Classes 1-8 in UP.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Paper 1 (Classes 1-5 — Primary):

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks AND 2-year D.El.Ed/BTC/B.Ed
  • OR Senior Secondary (12th) with at least 50% marks AND 4-year B.El.Ed
  • OR Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND 2-year D.El.Ed (by NCTE recognized institution)

Paper 2 (Classes 6-8 — Upper Primary):

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks AND B.Ed from NCTE recognized institution
  • OR Graduation with 45% marks AND B.Ed (as per NCTE 2002 norms)
