What is NEET UG 2026?

NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate) is India's single largest medical entrance exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is mandatory for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BVSc, and other undergraduate medical courses in government and private colleges across India.

NEET UG 2026 covers seats in 542 medical colleges, 313 dental colleges, 914 AYUSH colleges, and 47 BVSc & AH colleges. Registration is currently open and closes on March 8, 2026. The exam is scheduled for May 3, 2026 in pen-and-paper (OMR) mode.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: Minimum 17 years as on December 31, 2026. No upper age limit.
  • Education: Passed or appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects
  • Minimum Marks in Class 12: 50% aggregate in PCB (General), 40% (SC/ST/OBC), 45% (PwD)
  • Nationality: Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals

  1. Visit the official website at neet.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on "New Registration" and fill in your basic details (name, father's name, contact number, email)
  3. Note your registration number and set a secure password
  4. Verify via OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  5. Log in and fill personal, educational, and residential details
  6. Upload photograph, signature, and required documents in specified format
  7. Select 4 exam centre preferences
  8. Pay the application fee online
  9. Submit the form and print the confirmation page for your records
