Frequently Asked Questions
Is this scholarship for all states or specific states?
AICTE Pragati is a central scheme — available to girl students across all states studying in any AICTE-approved institution in India.
I am in 2nd year. Can I apply fresh?
Pragati is primarily for 1st year students (fresh admission). Continuing students apply via renewal. If you missed applying in 1st year, check the current year's notification — sometimes 2nd year fresh applications are accepted if seats are unfilled.
What if my institution is not AICTE-approved?
You are not eligible. Verify your institution's AICTE approval status at aicte-india.org → Institution section.
Can a girl from a general/open category apply?
Yes — Pragati has no caste restriction. It is solely based on being female and income below ₹8 lakh.
I already have a state government scholarship. Can I also get Pragati?
You cannot receive two scholarships for the same purpose from different sources. If your state scholarship covers tuition, you may not be eligible for Pragati. Check the "single scholarship" rule in the current year's notification.
My income is ₹8.5 lakh. Am I disqualified?
Yes — income above ₹8 lakh/year (family annual income) disqualifies you. Pragati's ₹8L ceiling is generous and covers most middle-class families.
