How to Apply

Step 1 โ€” Contact Gram Panchayat

Visit your Gram Panchayat Secretary and inform them you want to apply under Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana. They will:

  • Verify your residence and landless status
  • Add your name to the pending list

Step 2 โ€” Gram Sabha Approval

The Gram Sabha (village assembly) reviews and approves the list of eligible landless families. Attend the Gram Sabha if called.

Step 3 โ€” Verification by Patwari / Revenue Department

The Revenue Department (Patwari + Tehsildar) verifies land availability and the family's landless status.

Step 4 โ€” Patta Allotment

After verification and approval:

  • A plot is identified in the village (gram sabha land or government land)
  • A residential land patta is issued in the name of the woman of the household (or joint name of husband-wife)
  • The patta is registered in land records (CLR portal)

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have been living in a hut on the gram sabha land for 20 years. Can I get a patta?

Yes. Long-term residents on gram sabha land are the primary target. Contact your Gram Panchayat Secretary with Aadhaar and Samgra ID to apply.

2. Will I be relocated to a new plot or can I get a patta for my current location?

If your current location is legally available (gram sabha land, not encroached on reserved/forest land), you will get the patta for your existing plot. If not available, a nearby alternative plot will be identified.

3. I am a woman living alone (widow). Will the patta be in my name?

Yes. Priority is given to women-headed households. The patta should ideally be in the woman's name or jointly with the husband.

4. Can the land under this scheme be sold?

Residential land pattas under this scheme may have conditions restricting sale for a period (usually 5โ€“10 years) to prevent misuse. Check the patta conditions at the time of issue.

5. After getting the patta, how do I apply for PM Awas Yojana house?

After patta issuance, go to your Gram Panchayat and ask to be added to the PM Awas Yojana Gramin waiting list. The patta serves as proof of land ownership required for the housing scheme.
