Frequently Asked Questions

I lost my registered mobile number. How do I download my certificate?

You can visit the vaccination centre where you got vaccinated and request them to update your mobile number in the CoWIN system. Alternatively, raise a request through the CoWIN helpline at 1075.

Can I download the certificate without the CoWIN app?

Yes. CoWIN does not have an official app. You download certificates through the CoWIN website (cowin.gov.in), DigiLocker, or the UMANG app. No separate CoWIN app is needed.

My certificate shows the wrong vaccine name. How to fix it?

Log in to CoWIN → Raise an Issue → Select vaccine name correction. This needs to be verified by the vaccination centre, so it may take 7-15 days.

Is the COVID certificate still required for domestic travel in India?

As of the latest guidelines, COVID vaccination certificates are not mandatory for domestic travel within India. However, some international destinations may still require them. Check your destination country's requirements.

Can I get a COVID certificate if I was vaccinated abroad?

Vaccinations administered outside India are not reflected on CoWIN. You would need to use the certificate issued by the country where you were vaccinated. Some countries have mutual recognition agreements with India.

How do I verify if my certificate QR code is authentic?

Scan the QR code using any QR scanner — it will redirect to the official verification page showing your vaccination details. This is the same verification used at airports and international checkpoints.
