How Duplicate e-Shram Registrations Happen

Step 1: Identify Your Correct UAN

First, find out which UAN is your valid one:

Method 1: Login to Portal

1. Visit register.eshram.gov.in
2. Click "Already Registered"
3. Enter your Aadhaar number + captcha
4. Verify with OTP
5. The system shows your active UAN — note this down

Method 2: Check SMS History

1. Search your phone messages for "ESHRAM", "NDUW", or "UAN"
2. You may find multiple UAN numbers if registered multiple times
3. The most recent valid registration is usually the active one

Method 3: Call Helpline

1. Call 14434 (toll-free)
2. Provide your Aadhaar number
3. Ask which UAN is active and which should be deactivated

Step 2: Check Details on Each UAN

If you have two UAN numbers:

1. Log in using Aadhaar on the portal
2. Check if the displayed profile has correct details (name, bank account, mobile, occupation)
3. Note which UAN has the correct bank details — this is important for benefits
4. The UAN with accurate details should be kept active

Step 3: Deactivate the Duplicate UAN

You cannot deactivate a duplicate UAN yourself online. Here are the available methods:

Method 1: Call Helpline 14434

1. Call 14434 during working hours (Mon-Sat, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM)
2. Explain that you have duplicate UANs
3. Provide:

What Happens After Deactivation
