What is Vhali Dikri Yojana?

Vhali Dikri Yojana (meaning "Dear Daughter Scheme") is a Gujarat government scheme launched in 2019 to provide financial assistance to families with daughters. The scheme aims to improve the sex ratio, promote girl child education, and reduce the financial burden on families during a daughter's marriage.

Under this scheme, the Gujarat government provides financial assistance at three key stages of a girl's life:

Who is Eligible?

  • Domicile: Family must be a permanent resident of Gujarat
  • Income: Annual family income should not exceed ₹2 lakh
  • Daughters: Applicable for first two daughters of the family
  • Birth registration: Daughter's birth must be registered
  • Bank account: Family must have a bank account (preferably in the daughter's name or joint with parent)
  • BPL/EWS: Priority given to Below Poverty Line and Economically Weaker Section families

How to Apply — Step-by-Step

Online Application

  1. Visit the portal: Go to the Gujarat Women & Child Development Department website or Digital Gujarat portal
  2. Download application form: Download the Vhali Dikri Yojana application form
  3. Fill the form: Enter daughter's details, parents' details, income, and bank account information
  4. Attach documents: Attach photocopies of all required documents
  5. Submit at Anganwadi or CDPO office: Submit the completed form at your nearest Anganwadi Centre or Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office

Offline Application

  1. Visit your nearest Anganwadi Centre or Mamlatdar office
  2. Collect the Vhali Dikri Yojana application form
  3. Fill in all details and attach required documents
  4. Submit the form to the Anganwadi worker or CDPO
  5. Collect the acknowledgement receipt
  6. The Anganwadi worker will forward your application to the Taluka/District level

Fees

There is no application fee for this scheme. All services are free.

How the Money is Disbursed

  • Amount is transferred directly to the bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer)
  • For the first two installments (₹4,000 and ₹6,000), the amount is credited to the parent's bank account
  • For the third installment (₹1,00,000), the amount is credited to the daughter's own bank account after she turns 18
  • The daughter must have her own bank account by the time she turns 18

  1. Register early — Apply as soon as your daughter is born or enters Class 1 to ensure you receive all three installments.
  2. Keep documents updated — Ensure school enrollment certificates and bank details are current for smooth disbursement.
