What is Mission Shakti?

Mission Shakti is a flagship women empowerment programme of the Government of Odisha, launched in 2001 to promote self-reliance among women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Under Mission Shakti, women form groups of 10-20 members, pool their savings, access bank credit, and take up income-generating activities. The programme now covers over 70 lakh women across 6 lakh+ SHGs in Odisha, making it one of the largest women's collective movements in the country.
