The PM Internship Scheme is a Central Government initiative announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 to provide internship opportunities to 1 crore youth over 5 years with India's top 500 companies. Selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of ā¹5,000 and a one-time grant of ā¹6,000. The scheme is managed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
What is PM Internship Scheme?
The PM Internship Scheme aims to skill India's youth by offering them real-world work experience in top companies across various sectors. The internship duration is 12 months, and companies from diverse industries ā IT, manufacturing, finance, healthcare, energy, and more ā participate in the scheme. For the pilot phase (2024-25), 1.25 lakh internship positions were offered.
Who is Eligible?
- Age: 21 to 24 years
- Education: Passed 10th, 12th, ITI, diploma, or graduate (not currently enrolled in full-time education)
- Indian citizen
- Family income: Annual household income should not exceed ā¹8 lakh
- Not employed in full-time job at the time of application
- Must have an Aadhaar card
Who Cannot Apply?
- IIT, IIM, IISER, or NLU graduates/students
- Candidates already employed in organized sector
- Candidates from families where any member is a government employee
- Candidates with family income above ā¹8 lakh per annum
