PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0: Free LPG Connection, Eligibility, and How to Apply

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a flagship scheme launched in May 2016 to provide free LPG (cooking gas) connections to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) and economically weaker households. The scheme aims to replace unclean cooking fuels like firewood, coal, and cow-dung with clean LPG fuel, improving health and quality of life.

What is PM Ujjwala Yojana?

Under PMUY, the government provides a free LPG connection with financial assistance of ₹1,600 per connection to eligible households. The scheme was initially targeted at providing 5 crore connections and was later expanded under Ujjwala 2.0 in August 2021 to cover 1 crore additional beneficiaries, including migrant workers.

As of 2024, over 10 crore LPG connections have been provided under the scheme.

3. Fill form — Complete all details carefully
4. Attach documents — Attach copies of Aadhaar, BPL/ration card, bank passbook, and photograph
5. Submit — Submit the form at the distributor's office
