What is PM Vishwakarma Yojana?

PM Vishwakarma is a central government scheme launched on 17 September 2023 to support traditional artisans and craftspeople (Vishwakarmas) working with their hands and tools. The scheme provides end-to-end support through recognition, skill training, toolkit incentive, credit, and market access.

Who is Eligible?

  • Age: 18 years and above
  • Engaged in one of the 18 listed trades as a self-employed worker, working with hands and tools
  • Unorganised sector — must not be in formal/organised employment
  • Family-based: One member per family (family = husband, wife, and unmarried children)
  • Not registered under PM-SVANidhi, MUDRA, or similar schemes (for the same purpose)

Not Eligible

  • Government employees or their family members
  • People employed in organised/formal sector
  • Those who have availed similar benefits under PMEGP, PM-SVANidhi (for same trade)

  • Aadhaar card (mandatory)

How to Apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana

  4. Fill in trade details — which of the 18 trades you practice
  5. Gram Panchayat / ULB verification — local body verifies you are a practicing artisan
  6. District Implementation Committee (DIC) approves the application
  7. PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID card issued after approval
  8. Enrol for skill training at the designated training centre
