What is UP Nishulk Boring Yojana?

Nishulk Boring Yojana (Free Boring Scheme) is an Uttar Pradesh government scheme that provides free tube well boring and pipe installation to small/marginal farmers and SC/ST farmers for irrigation. The scheme is implemented by the Minor Irrigation Department, UP.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I am a general category farmer with 3 acres of land. Am I eligible?

General category farmers with land above 2 hectares may not qualify for the free boring scheme. Check with your district Minor Irrigation Office โ€” some districts extend benefits based on availability and BPL status.

2. I have land but no water source. Will boring definitely find water?

Not guaranteed. The Minor Irrigation Department conducts a survey before boring. If the area is not suitable (water table too deep or hard rock), boring may not be done in that location.

3. I got the boring done. What next for the pump?

Apply for the UP Muft Boring Pump Set subsidy or UP Solar Pump Scheme through the Agriculture Department or Minor Irrigation Department for a subsidized/free pump.

4. Can I apply online or only offline?

Both online (minorirrigationup.gov.in) and offline (Block/District office) applications are accepted. Online is faster in districts where the system is functional.

5. The boring was done but the water quality is saline. What do I do?

Contact the Block Minor Irrigation Officer. In some saline groundwater areas, deeper boring may be tried or alternative irrigation options suggested.
