Common Problems

School hasn't verified the application

Contact your school's scholarship coordinator or principal. Schools must verify before their deadline or the application gets cancelled.

Bank account not in student's name

The account must be in the student's name, not parent's name. Open a student bank account (minor account allowed with guardian co-holder) and link Aadhaar to it.

Application shows "incomplete"

Log back in before the last date. Some information fields may be empty or documents improperly uploaded. Fill and re-upload.

"Duplicate registration" error

You may have registered in a previous year — use "Renewal Application" not "Fresh Registration."

Payment credited to wrong account

Raise a grievance on the scholarship portal or visit the district social welfare office with your original bank passbook.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum marks requirement?

Generally, no minimum percentage is required for pre matric scholarship. All SC/ST/OBC/minority students in Class 9–10 with eligible family income can apply.

Can a student in a private school apply?

Yes — private recognized schools registered on the scholarship portal are eligible. Verify that your school appears in the dropdown when filling the application.

My school is not on the scholarship portal list. What do I do?

Ask your school principal to register the school on the UP scholarship portal. It is the school's responsibility to be registered for its students to apply.

When should I apply — beginning or end of the session?

Apply as early as possible after the portal opens (usually August). Late applications often get delayed or rejected due to institutional processing deadlines.

Can I get both UP scholarship and free uniform/books from the school?

Yes — the free uniform/books scheme under Samagra Shiksha is separate and does not conflict with the scholarship.
