Aadhaar is India's universal identity document. The government requires you to link Aadhaar with many services ā€” some mandatory, some optional but useful. This guide covers every major Aadhaar linking scenario with step-by-step instructions.

Linking Aadhaar serves several purposes:

  • Get government subsidies directly in your bank account (DBT)
  • File income tax returns ā€” PAN-Aadhaar link is mandatory

For Post Office accounts:
