- You apply within the deadline after purchase (typically 6 months)
How to Claim the Subsidy
Step 1 — Buy an EV from Delhi Dealer
Purchase your EV from any authorized dealer in Delhi. The vehicle must be:
- A new EV (not second-hand)
- Registered in Delhi (at the RTO)
- On the approved vehicle list
Step 2 — Register on EV Portal
- Go to ev.delhi.gov.in
- Register with your mobile number and Aadhaar
- Login
Step 3 — Submit Claim
- Click "Apply for Incentive"
- Select vehicle category
- Enter:
- Vehicle registration number (Delhi RC)
- Purchase invoice details
- Bank account number (for subsidy transfer)
- Upload:
- Invoice copy
- Aadhaar
- Vehicle RC (registration certificate)
Step 4 — Subsidy Credited
After verification (usually 2–4 weeks), subsidy is credited directly to your bank account via DBT.
Road Tax and Registration Waiver
One of Delhi's biggest EV benefits — you pay zero road tax and zero registration fee when buying an EV in Delhi. This alone saves:
- 2-wheelers: ₹2,000–₹5,000
- 4-wheelers: ₹50,000–₹2,00,000 (depending on vehicle cost)
The waiver is applied automatically at the RTO when you register your EV.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I bought an electric scooter in UP and registered it there. Can I claim Delhi subsidy?
No. The vehicle must be registered in Delhi to claim Delhi EV subsidy.
2. The portal shows the 4-wheeler subsidy is exhausted. What do I do?
Delhi's 4-wheeler subsidy has a cap (first 1,000 buyers per year). If exhausted, wait for the next cycle announcement or check for alternative benefits (road tax waiver still applies).
3. Can I claim subsidy on an electric e-rickshaw I bought for commercial use?
Yes. E-rickshaws used commercially (passenger transport) are specifically included in the Delhi EV policy with ₹30,000 subsidy.
4. I am an auto driver. Does the Delhi EV policy help me switch to an electric auto?
Yes. Delhi EV policy has specific provisions for converting petrol autos to electric autos — subsidy + interest subsidy on the conversion loan. Contact the Transport Department for auto conversion details.
5. Is the road tax waiver automatic or do I apply for it?
The road tax waiver is automatic — when your electric vehicle is registered at the Delhi RTO, no road tax is charged. You don't need to apply separately for this.
