Common Issues and Fixes
1. "Aadhaar Already Registered" Error
This means your Aadhaar is already linked to an e-Shram UAN. Use the "Already Registered" option to retrieve your existing UAN and download the card.
2. OTP Not Received
- Ensure your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar
- Check for network issues and wait 2-3 minutes before retrying
- If your Aadhaar-linked mobile is different, update it at the nearest Aadhaar centre first
3. Website Not Loading / Server Error
The portal often faces heavy traffic. Try accessing early morning (before 9 AM) or late evening (after 8 PM). You can also use the UMANG app as an alternative.
4. Wrong Details on e-Shram Card
- Log in using your registered mobile number
- Click on "Update" option to correct name, address, or other details
- Changes sync from your Aadhaar, so update Aadhaar first if needed. See our Aadhaar address change guide for help.
5. UAN Number Lost or Forgotten
Use the "Know Your UAN" option on the homepage with your Aadhaar or mobile number to retrieve it.
Important Tips
- Keep your UAN safe — it is your permanent identity in the e-Shram system
- Ensure Aadhaar-mobile linking — OTP verification requires this
- Use UMANG app as a backup if the website is slow
- Registration is free — do not pay anyone for e-Shram card registration
- Update details promptly if you change your address or occupation
