Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Can I apply if I'm 60 years old?

No, the minimum age for Shravan Bal Pension is 65 years. If you are between 60-64, you may check the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) which has a lower age threshold in some states.

Q2: What if I have a government job pension?

If you are already receiving any government pension (central, state, or PSU), you are not eligible for Shravan Bal Pension. This scheme is for those with no pension income.

Q3: Can both husband and wife apply?

Yes, both spouses can apply individually if they both meet the eligibility criteria (age 65+, BPL, no other pension). Each will receive the pension separately.

Q4: What happens if the beneficiary passes away?

The pension stops immediately upon the death of the beneficiary. The family should inform the Tehsil office to avoid recovery issues. There is no survivor benefit under this scheme.

Q5: Is the income limit per person or per family?

The income limit of ₹21,000 is the annual family income (combined income of all family members), not individual income.

Q6: Can NRIs apply?

No, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra and physically living in the state. NRIs and persons living outside Maharashtra are not eligible.
