What is Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana?
Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana is a scheme by the Government of Maharashtra to encourage families to have girl children and to promote the welfare and education of daughters. Launched in 2016, the scheme provides financial assistance to families with one or two daughters, conditional on the parent undergoing sterilization (family planning operation).
The scheme aims to:

Benefits
For one girl child (after family planning operation):
- ₹50,000 deposited in the girl's bank account (fixed deposit or sukanya samriddhi)
- Amount matures when the girl turns 18
For two girl children (after family planning operation):
- ₹25,000 each deposited for both daughters
- Amount matures when each girl turns 18
Additionally, the girl and her mother get free health insurance under the scheme.
Who is Eligible?
- Maharashtra domicile families
- Family must have one or two girl children only
- One of the parents must have undergone family planning operation (sterilization) after the birth of the girl child
- Family annual income must be ₹7.5 lakh or less (revised upward from earlier ₹1 lakh limit)
- The girl child must be born on or after the scheme launch date
- Must open a bank account in the girl's name (or joint with mother)

How to Apply — Step-by-Step
Online Application
- Visit the Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department portal
- Register with mobile number and basic details
- Select Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana
- Fill the application with girl child details, family planning certificate, income, bank details
- Upload all required documents
- Submit and note the application number
- Track status on the portal
Offline Application
- Visit the nearest Anganwadi centre, Gram Panchayat, or Municipal office
- Collect the Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree application form
