The state pension integrates with the central IGNDPS (Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme) — eligible beneficiaries receive combined support.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a 35% disability. Am I eligible?

No — the minimum is 40% disability. For a borderline case, visit a government hospital for re-evaluation. Sometimes assessments under-measure disability — a re-evaluation may give a different result.

My child is 10 years old and visually impaired. Can they receive this pension?

The central IGNDPS component is for 18+ years. However, the MP state scheme may cover children from a younger age. Confirm with the district Social Justice office — there may be a separate provision for disabled children.

Can I get Viklang Pension and also apply for Divyangjan Scholarship?

Yes — these are different schemes. Viklang Pension is for income support; Divyangjan Scholarship is for students with disabilities. You can receive both simultaneously if eligible.

How long does approval take?

Typically 1–3 months from complete document submission to pension activation. Follow up with your district Social Justice office if there's no update after 2 months.

My disability certificate was issued 10 years ago. Is it still valid?

Permanent disabilities (congenital or established) on old certificates are usually accepted. However, having a recent UDID card (Unique Disability ID) from swavlambancard.gov.in simplifies verification. Get one if you don't have it.
