Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have Udyam registration but no ISO certification. Can I apply for ZED?

Yes. ZED is a separate quality framework โ€” you do not need ISO certification to start. ZED Bronze is for enterprises with basic quality practices in place.

2. How much does ZED certification actually cost after subsidy?

Assessment and certification cost is typically โ‚น20,000โ€“โ‚น80,000 before subsidy, depending on enterprise size. After 80% subsidy (for micro), net cost is โ‚น4,000โ€“โ‚น16,000.

3. Does ZED certification expire?

ZED certificates are valid for 3 years. You can renew and upgrade your rating.

4. What is the advantage of Gold vs Bronze ZED rating?

Gold-rated enterprises have stronger credibility in domestic and export markets. For government procurement on GeM, all ZED-certified enterprises get preference, but Gold-rated ones rank higher.

5. I export to Europe. Does ZED help with EU market access?

ZED Gold is broadly equivalent to international quality management standards. While it is not a direct substitute for ISO or CE marking (required for EU), it demonstrates quality discipline that improves your credibility in export markets.
