Frequently Asked Questions

1. My disability certificate was issued 10 years ago. Is it still valid for pension?

For permanent disabilities (limb loss, congenital), old certificates are generally accepted. For conditions that may change, a fresh assessment may be needed. Check with the District Medical Board.

2. I have 40% disability but my family income is ₹1.5 lakh/year. Am I eligible?

Tamil Nadu disability pension is for BPL/low-income families. ₹1.5 lakh/year may be above the BPL threshold in some categories. Check with the BDO — income criteria can vary.

3. Can a child with 60% disability get the pension?

Minimum age is 18. A disabled child cannot get this pension, but may qualify for scholarships and aids/appliances through the Social Welfare department.

4. How do I check if my pension is being credited?

Check your bank passbook regularly. You can also visit the Social Welfare Office with your Aadhaar to verify.
