Frequently Asked Questions

1. I am a construction worker but my house is a rented property. Am I eligible?

The scheme requires house ownership โ€” the solar panels are installed on your own house roof. Rented/leased property is typically not eligible as panels are a permanent fixture.

2. How long does it take from application to installation?

Typically 2โ€“4 months from application to installation, depending on queue and DISCOM approval.

3. Can I sell extra electricity back to UPPCL?

Yes. With net metering, if your solar panels generate more than you consume, the extra units are credited to your UPPCL account, reducing your future bills. You effectively earn back from the grid.

4. Is UPBOCW registration free?

The initial registration is processed online at upbocw.in. There is a nominal annual contribution (โ‚น20/year), but registration assistance is free.

5. I applied 6 months ago but no update. What do I do?

Log in to upbocw.in and check application status. Also contact the District Labour Welfare Officer (DLO) in your district for follow-up.
