NEET Cut-Off Marks
Qualifying Cut-Off (to be eligible for counselling)
| Category | Qualifying Percentile | Approximate Marks (out of 720) |
|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | 50th percentile | 130-140 |
| OBC/SC/ST | 40th percentile | 105-110 |
| UR-PwD | 45th percentile | 115-120 |
| OBC/SC/ST-PwD | 40th percentile | 105-110 |
Note: These are approximate figures based on recent years. Actual cut-offs are declared by NTA with the result. Qualifying the cut-off makes you eligible for counselling โ it does not guarantee admission.
Admission Cut-Off (for top colleges)
Admission cut-offs depend on the college, course, and category. For government MBBS seats:
- Top AIIMS: AIR under 100
- Top government medical colleges: AIR under 5,000-15,000
- State government colleges (home state): Varies by state
All India Rank (AIR) Explained
Your All India Rank is determined by your NEET score. In case of a tie (same marks), NTA uses these tie-breaking criteria in order:
- Higher marks in Biology
- Higher marks in Chemistry
- Fewer wrong answers overall
- Older candidate gets preference
Category Ranks
Apart from AIR, NTA also declares:
- Category rank (OBC/SC/ST/EWS rank within that category)
- State merit list rank (for state counselling)
- PwD rank (if applicable)
NEET Counselling Process
NEET counselling happens at two levels:
1. All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling โ MCC
Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in for 15% All India Quota seats:
- Registration on MCC portal with NEET roll number
- Choice filling โ select preferred colleges and courses
- Seat allotment โ based on NEET AIR, category, and choices
- Report to college with original documents and fees
- Multiple rounds โ 4 rounds including mop-up and stray vacancy
2. State Counselling โ 85% State Quota
Each state conducts separate counselling for 85% state quota seats:
- Register on the respective state counselling portal
- Fill choices from colleges in that state
- Allotment based on NEET score and state merit list
