What is Madhu Babu Pension Yojana?

Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) is the flagship social security pension scheme of the Government of Odisha, providing monthly pensions to elderly persons, widows, differently-abled individuals, and other vulnerable groups. Named after Madhusudan Das (Madhu Babu), a revered Odia leader, the scheme was launched by merging the Revised Old Age Pension Rules and the Disability Pension Scheme.

Administered by the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department, MBPY covers over 48 lakh beneficiaries across Odisha, making it one of India's largest state pension programs.
