Frequently Asked Questions

What is the interest rate on PM Vishwakarma loan?

The loan interest rate is 5% per year — much lower than regular bank loans. The government pays the remaining interest as a subsidy (the bank's actual rate is higher, but you only pay 5%).

Can I apply online myself without going to CSC?

No — as of now, self-registration is not available. You must visit a Common Service Centre (CSC) or Gram Panchayat to register. Find your nearest CSC at locator.csccloud.in.

How much is the training stipend?

You get ₹500 per day as stipend during the training period (5 days basic + 15 days advanced = up to 20 days × ₹500 = ₹10,000 total).

Is the ₹15,000 toolkit grant a loan or free money?

The ₹15,000 toolkit allowance is a grant — not a loan. You do not have to repay it. It is directly credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Can a woman artisan apply?

Yes — women artisans in any of the 18 trades are fully eligible. There is no gender restriction.

What if my trade is not in the 18 listed trades?

Currently the scheme only covers the 18 listed traditional trades. If your trade is not listed, you may be eligible for other schemes like PM MUDRA Yojana or PMEGP.

How long does it take to get the loan?

After completing training and receiving the toolkit grant, the loan process typically takes 2–4 weeks through the designated bank. The entire journey from registration to first loan may take 2–3 months.
