What is Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana?
Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana (RGKNY) is a farmer welfare scheme launched by the Government of Chhattisgarh in May 2020 to provide input subsidy directly to farmers. The scheme aims to ensure that farmers receive fair returns on their crops by providing an input cost subsidy per acre of cultivated land through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Under RGKNY, registered farmers receive ₹9,000 per acre per year (for paddy and other notified crops) as input subsidy. The scheme covers paddy, maize, sugarcane, soybean, groundnut, and other notified crops grown in Chhattisgarh. For sugarcane, farmers receive the difference between the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) and the actual payment, up to ₹355 per quintal.
Note: This scheme was launched by the Congress government. With the change in government in December 2023, the scheme's operational status may be subject to changes. Check the official portal for the latest updates.
