What is Rythu Bandhu?

Rythu Bandhu — meaning "Friend of Farmers" — is the Telangana government's agricultural investment support scheme providing ₹10,000 per acre per year (₹5,000 per season for Kharif and ₹5,000 for Rabi) to all land-owning farmers in Telangana as a direct cash transfer for farm inputs.

Launched in 2018 as the world's first farmer investment support scheme of this scale, Rythu Bandhu is paid directly to farmers' accounts — no banks, no middlemen.

Benefit Amount

Season Amount Per Acre
Kharif (April–May) ₹5,000/acre
Rabi (October–November) ₹5,000/acre
Annual total ₹10,000/acre

Examples:

  • 2 acres → ₹20,000/year (₹10,000 per season)
  • 5 acres → ₹50,000/year (₹25,000 per season)
  • 0.5 acres → ₹5,000/year (₹2,500 per season)

There is no upper limit on acres — all agricultural land is covered.

Who is Eligible?

  • All land-owning farmers in Telangana with agricultural land in their name (as per land records / Pattadar Passbook)
  • No income limit — even rich farmers with large holdings receive support (unlike state-wise income-targeted schemes)
  • Land must be agriculturally classified — lands under buildings/commercial use are excluded
  • Farmer must have an updated Pattadar Passbook (integrated with Aadhaar and bank account)

Not eligible:

  • Government employees and their spouses (if they own agricultural land, they may not qualify — check current norms)
  • Tenant/lease farmers (only Pattadar/landowners receive Rythu Bandhu, not tenants)

How to Register / Ensure You Receive Rythu Bandhu

Most farmers registered in the Dharani land records portal automatically receive Rythu Bandhu if:

  1. Their land is registered on dharani.telangana.gov.in
  2. Pattadar Passbook is updated with Aadhaar and bank account

If you are not receiving Rythu Bandhu despite owning land:

  1. Go to dharani.telangana.gov.in
  2. Check your Pattadar Passbook details
  3. Ensure Aadhaar and bank account are correctly seeded
  4. Visit nearest MeeSeva centre or Agriculture Extension Officer for corrections

Checking Rythu Bandhu Payment Status

  1. Go to rythubandhu.telangana.gov.in
  2. Enter your Pattadar Passbook number or Aadhaar
  3. View payment history for all seasons

OR check your linked bank account for seasonal credits.

Rythu Bima (Rythu Bandhu Insurance Component)

Closely linked to Rythu Bandhu is Rythu Bima — a life insurance scheme for Telangana farmers. If a farmer enrolled in Rythu Bandhu dies (age 18–59), the family receives ₹5 lakh insurance compensation.

The premium is paid by the Telangana government — farmers don't pay anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

I inherited farmland but the mutation hasn't been done. Am I eligible?

You must be the registered Pattadar (owner on record) to receive Rythu Bandhu. Get the mutation done at the Revenue Department (Village Revenue Officer) to update land records in your name. Until mutation is done, the previous owner may still be receiving the benefit.

The payment shows in status but not in my bank. What's wrong?

The bank account seeded to your Pattadar Passbook may be inactive or have Aadhaar seeding issues. Visit your bank branch to activate the account and confirm Aadhaar linkage. Then contact the Agriculture Extension Officer.

I own 0.25 acres (25 cents). How much will I receive?

0.25 acre × ₹10,000 = ₹2,500/year (₹1,250 per season). All land sizes receive proportional support.

Can I get Rythu Bandhu and PM-Kisan simultaneously?

Yes — Rythu Bandhu is a state scheme (Telangana); PM-Kisan is a central scheme. Both can be received simultaneously by the same farmer. PM-Kisan gives ₹6,000/year; Rythu Bandhu gives ₹10,000/acre/year (in addition).

Land is in my wife's name. Will she receive the payment?

Yes — Rythu Bandhu is paid to the registered Pattadar regardless of gender. If land is in your wife's name, she receives the benefit in her bank account.
