Taruner Swapno (তরুণের স্বপ্ন — "Youth's Dream") is a West Bengal government scheme that provides ₹10,000 as financial assistance to Class 11 students studying in government-run schools and madrasahs for purchasing a tablet, smartphone or personal computer. The scheme aims to bridge the digital divide and support students in accessing online educational resources.
What is Taruner Swapno?
Launched by the West Bengal School Education Department, Taruner Swapno recognises that digital devices are essential for modern education. The scheme provides a one-time financial assistance of ₹10,000 directly to the bank accounts of eligible Class 11 students through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), enabling them to purchase a digital device for their studies.
Who is Eligible?
- Must be enrolled in Class 11 in a government-run or government-aided school or madrasah in West Bengal
- Must be a student of a West Bengal government school (private school students are not covered)
- Must have a bank account in their own name

Step-by-Step Process
How to Get the Benefit
- Enrol in Class 11 at a government-run or government-aided school/madrasah in West Bengal
- Open a bank account in your name (if you don't have one) — preferably in a nationalised bank
- Collect the prescribed Account Mandate Form (Annexure-F) from your school
- Fill the form with your bank account details, IFSC code and Aadhaar number
- Attach a copy of your bank passbook (first page showing name, account number, IFSC)
- Submit the form to your school/madrasah within the deadline
- School verifies your enrolment and submits the data to the Block/District office
- Data is uploaded to the state portal for DBT processing
- ₹10,000 is credited directly to your bank account
- Use the amount to purchase a tablet, smartphone or personal computer for your studies
Verification at School Level
- The Headmaster/Teacher-in-Charge verifies each student's enrolment and bank details
- Verified data is compiled and forwarded to the Sub-Inspector of Schools or Block Education Office
- The Block office consolidates and uploads to the state education portal
Fees
There is no fee to avail this scheme. It is a completely free benefit for eligible students.
Processing Time
- Form submission: During the academic session (as per school notification)
- Verification: 15–30 days at school and block level
- DBT credit: Within 1–2 months of final verification
- Total timeline: 2–4 months from form submission
Important Tips
- Open your bank account early — don't wait until the deadline. A savings account in any nationalised bank works
- Ensure Aadhaar is linked to your bank account — DBT will fail without Aadhaar seeding
- Fill the mandate form carefully — any error in account number or IFSC code will delay payment
- Keep your bank passbook updated — you may need to show proof of credit to the school
- This is a one-time benefit for Class 11 only — it is not renewable in Class 12
