What is this Scheme?
The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme is a Tamil Nadu government scheme providing ₹25,000 cash assistance and 8 grams of gold (as a gold coin) to women from economically weaker sections at the time of their marriage. The scheme is administered by the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department.
Who is Eligible?
- Bride must be a resident of Tamil Nadu
- Age: Bride must be 18 years or above at the time of marriage
- Education: Bride must have studied up to at least Class 10 (SSLC)
- Family Income: Annual family income must be below ₹72,000

How to Apply
Before Marriage
- Visit the nearest District Social Welfare Office or Revenue Divisional Office
- Collect the marriage assistance application form
- Fill in all details — bride's education, family income, marriage date
- Attach all required documents
- Submit the application at least 40 days before the marriage date
- Collect the acknowledgment receipt
After Marriage (Within 3 Months)
- Submit the marriage registration certificate to the same office
- After verification, the ₹25,000 cash + 8g gold coin is provided
- Cash is transferred to the bride's bank account via DBT

- No Duplicate Claims: Only one claim per bride. Re-marriage after divorce/widowhood has separate provisions.

Q1: Can the groom's family apply?
No. The application must be in the bride's name and submitted by the bride or her family.

She is not eligible under this specific scheme. Class 10 (SSLC) pass is a mandatory requirement.

No. The 8g gold coin is provided as a physical gold coin — it cannot be converted to cash.
