Frequently Asked Questions
1. My father died in a road accident. He was a farmer. How long do we have to file the claim?
You have 45 days from the date of the accident to file the claim. Do not delay — gather FIR, post-mortem report, and death certificate immediately.
2. The accident happened in another state. Is the UP farmer still covered?
Yes. Coverage is tied to the farmer's UP registration — the accident location does not matter. You need FIR from the accident location state and death certificate.
3. My husband had a heart attack while ploughing. Is this covered?
No. The scheme covers accidental causes only — not natural deaths from illness. Heart attack, even if it occurs during farm work, is classified as illness-related death and is not covered.
4. How do I check my father's registration under this scheme?
Check the Farmer Registration Portal: upagripardarshi.gov.in. Alternatively, confirm with your local Lekhpal (Patwari) who maintains land records.
5. The insurance company rejected our claim. What can we do?
File a written appeal with the District Agriculture Officer and the Divisional Commissioner's office. You can also approach the State Insurance Regulatory Authority or the Consumer Forum if the rejection is unjustified.
