What is PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana?
PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY) is a government pension scheme for small and marginal farmers, providing a guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 per month after the age of 60. It is a voluntary, contributory scheme where both the farmer and the government contribute equally to the pension corpus.
Key features:
- ₹3,000/month pension after age 60
- Equal contribution by farmer and government (government matches your deposit)
- Monthly contribution: ₹55 to ₹200 depending on your age at enrollment
- Enrollment at CSC (Common Service Centre) or at maandhan.in
- Spouse can also join separately and get another ₹3,000/month
Who is Eligible?
- Small and marginal farmers — those with cultivable land up to 2 hectares
- Age: 18 to 40 years at the time of enrollment

Not eligible:
- Farmers with more than 2 hectares of land
- Income taxpayers
- Government employees
- Those already enrolled in EPFO, NPS, or any other pension scheme
Monthly Contribution
The contribution is based on your age at the time of enrollment:
| Entry Age | Monthly Contribution (Farmer) | Govt. Contribution (Equal) |
|---|---|---|
| 18 years | ₹55/month | ₹55/month |
| 25 years | ₹80/month | ₹80/month |
| 30 years | ₹110/month | ₹110/month |
| 35 years | ₹150/month | ₹150/month |

Frequently Asked Questions
I am in PM-KISAN scheme. Do I automatically get this pension?
No — PM-KISAN (income support ₹6,000/year) and PM-KMY (pension scheme) are separate. You need to enroll separately in PM-KMY.
My land is in my father's name. Can I still enroll?
The eligibility is based on the cultivating farmer — if you are the one who cultivates the land even if it's in your father's name, you may be eligible. Check at your nearest CSC with land records showing your family as cultivators.
What if I miss my monthly contribution?
Your subscription may be suspended. You can regularize by paying the missed months' amount + simple interest at the rate of 8% per annum. Visit CSC or the maandhan.in portal to reactivate.
I am 42 years old. Can I join?
No — the maximum entry age is 40 years. If you are above 40, you are not eligible for PM-KMY. Consider PPF or NPS as alternatives.
Will the ₹3,000/month pension increase with inflation?
The pension amount is fixed at ₹3,000/month as per the scheme design. The government may revise it periodically, but there is no guaranteed automatic inflation indexing.
Can my wife also get a separate pension?
Yes — your spouse can also enroll separately and contribute separately to get an additional ₹3,000/month pension after 60. Each person's subscription is independent.
