What is YSR Pension Kanuka?

YSR Pension Kanuka is Andhra Pradesh's social security pension scheme that delivers monthly pensions directly to beneficiaries' homes through the Village/Ward Secretariat system. It covers multiple categories of vulnerable citizens.

"Kanuka" means "gift" — the pension is delivered as a gift to beneficiaries at their doorstep by the Village Volunteer/Secretariat.

How the Pension is Delivered — Village Secretariat System

Unlike most states where beneficiaries collect pension from bank/CSC, AP's YSR Pension Kanuka is delivered at home:

  1. Village/Ward Secretariat maintains the beneficiary database
  2. Village Volunteer visits the beneficiary's home on the pension distribution day
  3. Pension is paid in cash or via mobile banking through the volunteer's banking device

This ensures even bedridden elderly persons receive their pension without going anywhere.

How to Apply

Step 1 — Visit Village/Ward Secretariat

Go to your Village Secretariat (rural) or Ward Secretariat (urban). Tell the Sachivalayam employee that you want to apply for YSR Pension.

Step 2 — Submit Documents

At the secretariat, provide:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Category certificate (old age: age proof; widow: death certificate; disability: certificate)
  • Income certificate
  • Bank passbook (optional if payment is cash)

Step 3 — Application Submission

The Secretariat employee enters your details in the AP Government system and submits the application.

Step 4 — Verification by Volunteer

The Village Volunteer verifies your eligibility through a home visit.

Step 5 — Pension Starts

After approval and inclusion in the beneficiary list, pension is delivered monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I didn't receive my pension last month. What do I do?

Contact your Village Volunteer immediately. Also contact the Village Secretariat. The volunteer is responsible for pension delivery — track through them first.

2. My mother is bedridden. Will she still get the pension?

Yes. The entire purpose of the door delivery model is to serve bedridden and mobility-impaired beneficiaries. The Village Volunteer specifically visits their homes.

3. Is pension available to all elderly or only BPL?

The scheme targets economically backward individuals. An income screen is done — not strictly BPL card. Contact your Village Secretariat for the current income criteria.

4. I am a transgender person. What amount do I get?

Transgenders receive ₹3,500/month — the highest amount in the YSR Pension Kanuka scheme.

5. Can I get YSR Pension and PM-JAY health insurance at the same time?

Yes. YSR Pension and PM-JAY / YSR Aarogyasri health insurance are separate benefits — you can receive both simultaneously.
