What is Anna Bhagya Scheme Karnataka?

Anna Bhagya is Karnataka's free rice distribution scheme for Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration card holders. Under this scheme, eligible families receive 10 kg of rice per person per month completely free of cost, in addition to the 5 kg rice they already receive under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Combined with NFSA rice, BPL families in Karnataka receive up to 10 kg of rice per person per month from the Public Distribution System (PDS) either free or at highly subsidised rates.

Current status (as of 2026): The scheme has seen changes in implementation. From time to time, cash transfers have been used as an alternative when state procurement of additional rice was not possible. Check with your Fair Price Shop (Ration Shop) for the latest status in your area.
