What is Ladli Laxmi Yojana?

Ladli Laxmi Yojana is the Madhya Pradesh government's flagship scheme for the welfare of girl children — providing total benefits of ₹1,43,000 (₹1.43 lakh) distributed in multiple tranches from birth until marriage/graduation. Launched in 2007, the scheme is now in its enhanced Ladli Laxmi 2.0 avatar.

The primary goal: Improve the sex ratio, reduce female foeticide, encourage girls' education, and help girl children reach adulthood on a stronger financial footing.

Benefits — How ₹1.43 Lakh is Distributed

Stage Benefit
On enrollment (first 5 years) ₹6,000/year × 5 years = ₹30,000 in NSC (National Savings Certificates) in the girl's name
Class 6 admission ₹2,000 scholarship
Class 9 admission ₹4,000 scholarship
Class 11 admission ₹6,000 scholarship
Class 12 (annual) ₹6,000 per year (2 years = ₹12,000)
At age 21 (on marriage or higher education) ₹1,00,000 final payment
Total ~₹1,43,000

Note: The ₹1,00,000 final payment is released only if:

  • The girl passes Class 12 exams
  • She is not married before age 18 (marriage after 18 is required)
  • She is enrolled in higher education OR has completed Class 12

Who is Eligible?

Frequently Asked Questions

I registered my daughter late (she's 2 years old). Is it too late?

The scheme requires registration ideally within 1 year of birth. Late registrations have sometimes been accepted by the state government with valid reasons. Contact the Anganwadi supervisor or district WCD office immediately — delays can affect the NSC accumulation period.

Can a girl child from another state (born in MP) apply?

Parents must be Madhya Pradesh domicile residents. If the girl is born in MP to MP-domicile parents, she is eligible regardless of where the birth hospital was located.

Will the ₹1 lakh be released if my daughter marries at 19 but drops out of college?

The ₹1 lakh final tranche requires:

  1. Marriage after 18 years of age (child marriage prevention), AND
  2. Class 12 passed (or higher education enrolled) Dropping out of college doesn't disqualify if she has cleared Class 12 and married after 18.

My daughter is enrolled in Ladli Laxmi but the scholarship wasn't credited at Class 6. What should I do?

Contact the district Women and Child Development office or check the portal for scholarship application. Scholarship tranches at Class 6, 9, and 11 may require a separate application/confirmation from the school.
