What is Rupashree Prakalpa?

Rupashree Prakalpa is a West Bengal government scheme that gives a one-time ₹25,000 financial assistance to economically backward families at the time of their daughter's marriage. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, West Bengal.

Applications must be submitted before the marriage — at least 30 days in advance.

Who is Eligible?

You ARE eligible if:

  • The bride is a permanent resident of West Bengal (3+ years)
  • The bride is 18 years or older on the date of marriage
  • Annual family income is ₹1,50,000 or less
  • It is the bride's first marriage
  • The bride and her family are not income tax payers

There is no caste/religion restriction — any economically weaker family qualifies regardless of caste.

  3. Age proof — Aadhaar with DoB, birth certificate, or school certificate

  5. Marriage invitation card — showing date and venue (for advance application)
  6. Bank passbook — bride's own Aadhaar-linked account
  7. Photograph — bride's
  8. Residence proof — ration card, electricity bill, or other WB residency proof

How to Apply — Step by Step

Step 1 — Apply at Least 30 Days Before Marriage

This is critical. Applications submitted less than 30 days before marriage may not be processed in time for pre-wedding disbursement.

Step 2 — Apply Online

  1. Go to webcsc.org → Rupashree Prakalpa
  2. Register with mobile number
  3. Fill the online form with personal, family, and marriage details
  4. Upload all documents
  5. Submit and note Application Reference Number

Step 3 — Apply at CSC / Duare Sarkar Camp

Visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or Duare Sarkar camp for assisted application. The operator fills the form on your behalf.

Step 4 — Block Development Officer Verification

The BDO verifies:

  • Income certificate
  • Residency
  • Age of bride

Step 5 — Money Released Before Marriage

The ₹25,000 is credited to the bride's bank account before or on the day of marriage.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I apply after the marriage?

No. Rupashree Prakalpa requires application before the marriage — at least 30 days in advance. Post-marriage applications are not accepted.

2. My daughter's marriage is in 15 days. Is it too late?

Yes — 30 days advance is required. Apply immediately and contact your Block Development Officer's office for emergency processing, though approval in less than 30 days is not guaranteed.

3. I applied in time but the money hasn't come. The marriage is tomorrow. What do I do?

Contact the BDO office immediately. Also call the Rupashree helpline (if available via webcsc.org). In genuine cases, emergency disbursement may be arranged.

4. My daughter is from an upper-caste family. Does income matter?

Yes — the only criterion is income (≤ ₹1.5 lakh/year). There is no caste restriction. Upper-caste BPL families are equally eligible.

5. I have 2 daughters getting married (different times). Can I apply for both?

Yes. The scheme allows one application per daughter's first marriage. Two daughters, two separate applications.
