Preparation Tips
1. Start with NCERT Books
Read NCERT books from Class 6 to 12 for History, Geography, Polity, Economics, and Science. This builds a strong foundation for both Prelims and Mains.
2. Focus on UP-Specific Content
Unlike UPSC, UPPSC gives weightage to UP-specific topics — UP history, geography, culture, economy, and government schemes. Study UP-specific yearbooks and state government portals.
3. Choose Your Optional Wisely
Pick an optional subject you are comfortable with and has good scoring potential. Popular choices include Hindi Literature, Geography, Sociology, and Public Administration.
4. Master General Hindi
General Hindi is a scoring paper in Mains. Practice essay writing, grammar, and précis regularly. Read Hindi newspapers and literary magazines.
5. Practice Answer Writing
Mains is a descriptive exam. Practice writing structured, concise answers within word limits. Use bullet points, diagrams, and examples.
6. Current Affairs are Critical
Read newspapers daily (Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala for Hindi; The Hindu for English). Maintain a monthly current affairs notebook.
7. Solve Previous Year Papers
UPPSC repeats themes and topics. Solving last 10 years' papers gives excellent insight into the exam pattern and important topics.
8. Take Mock Tests
Join a test series for both Prelims and Mains. Regular testing improves time management and accuracy.
