Preparation Tips

1. Master Bihar-Specific Topics

BPSC heavily focuses on Bihar โ€” its history, geography, economy, culture, and role in the freedom movement. Study Bihar-specific reference books thoroughly.

2. Start with NCERTs

Read NCERT books (Class 6โ€“12) for History, Geography, Polity, and Economy. This builds the foundation for both Prelims and Mains.

3. No Negative Marking in Prelims โ€” Attempt All

4. Choose Optional Strategically

The optional paper carries 300 marks โ€” one-third of total Mains marks. Choose a subject with shorter syllabus and higher scoring potential. Hindi Literature and History are popular choices.

5. Practice Descriptive Answer Writing

Mains is entirely descriptive. Practice writing structured, point-wise answers with proper introduction and conclusion. Write at least 2โ€“3 answers daily.

6. Current Affairs โ€” Bihar Focus

Along with national and international events, focus on Bihar-specific current affairs โ€” state government schemes, Bihar budget, recent developments.

7. Solve Previous Year BPSC Papers

BPSC has a pattern of repeating topics. Solving last 10โ€“15 years' papers is extremely valuable for both Prelims and Mains.

8. Hindi Medium Friendly

BPSC is considered Hindi medium-friendly. Study materials and answer writing in Hindi are widely available and accepted.
