Frequently Asked Questions

My daughter is 3 years old. Can I still apply?

You must apply within 1 year of birth. If your daughter is already 3, you have likely missed the registration window. Contact the Block ICDS office to see if any late registrations are allowed.

Can I apply for 3 girls in my family?

The scheme covers up to 2 girl children per family. The third girl child is not covered.

Is the ₹50,000 bond given in cash at birth?

No — the government issues a ₹50,000 bond in the girl's name that matures into approximately ₹2 lakh when she turns 21. It is not immediate cash.

My daughter studies in a private school. Are education scholarships available?

Education scholarships are typically linked to enrollment in government schools. If your daughter studies in a private school, check with the Block ICDS office if private school students qualify in the current year.

What if the girl gets married before 21?

The scheme discourages child marriage. If the girl marries before 18 (legal age), the bond benefit may be forfeited. The scheme is designed to encourage keeping girls in school until age 21.
