Frequently Asked Questions

I got 55% marks but my institution requires 60% to continue. Will I still get Vidyasiri?

Vidyasiri typically requires passing marks (as per Karnataka norms for SC/ST, which may be lower than general category). Check with the KAREPASS helpdesk for specific percentage requirements for your course.

The scholarship didn't come for 6 months. Whom to contact?

Log in to KAREPASS and check your application status. If it shows "approved" but not paid, contact:

  • Your college's scholarship coordinator
  • District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO)
  • KAREPASS helpline

Can a student in a private (unaided) engineering college get Vidyasiri?

Yes — private unaided engineering colleges are included but the tuition fee reimbursement is capped at the government-fixed ceiling (not the full private college fee). Check the current year's fee cap on swd.kar.nic.in.

Is there a separate ST scholarship or is it combined with SC under Vidyasiri?

Both SC and ST post-matric scholarships are processed under the "Vidyasiri" umbrella on KAREPASS. The administrative ministry differs (Social Welfare for SC; Tribal Welfare for ST), but the portal is the same.
